Why You Should NEVER Hoard Coins Overnight in Coin Master
We have all been there. You have a great spinning session, rack up 2 Billion coins, and decide to go to sleep so you can build your village tomorrow. You wake up, open the app, and you have 15 Million coins left. What happened?
The Attack vs. Raid Difference
The biggest misconception in Coin Master is that shields protect you from everything. They do not.
- Attacks (The Hammer): When a player gets a Hammer, they attack your village buildings. If you have a Shield, it blocks the attack. The shield breaks, but your village is safe.
- Raids (The Pig): When a player gets three Pigs, they raid your bank account directly. Shields do absolutely nothing against Raids.
How the Matchmaking System Works
When a player lands on three Pigs, the game assigns them a "Coin Master" to raid. The matchmaking algorithm specifically looks for players on their friends list (or randoms) who currently have a large, active bank balance.
If you hoard coins, you are literally painting a giant bullseye on your account. The game will feed you to other players as a high-value target.
The Solution: The "Full Build"
As detailed extensively in our Village Build Strategy Guide, the only way to play safely is to hoard your spins, not your coins. Spins cannot be stolen.
When you sit down to play, use your daily Coin Master Free Spins to hit your coin target, build your village instantly, and then stop playing. If you have leftover coins after building your village, go to the shop and buy chests until your balance is near zero.
Going to sleep broke is the best defense in Coin Master!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you get raided while offline in Coin Master?
Yes. The game continuously matches you as a 'Coin Master' target for other players, even while you are asleep or the app is closed.
Can shields protect me from raids?
No. Shields only protect you from Attacks. There is no defense against Raids other than keeping your coin balance low.
Does having a pet Rhino protect against raids?
No. The Rhino pet has a chance to block Attacks, just like a shield. It does absolutely nothing to stop a Raid.
How much can someone steal in one raid?
It depends on their spin multiplier. If they land on three pigs while betting 100x, they can drain billions of coins from your account in a single raid.
So what should I do with my coins before closing the app?
Spend them. Buy village upgrades, or if your village is fully built, spend your excess coins on chests to progress your card sets.
